Prescription pill bottles are not something i had ever thought about using with my BOB or camping gear. It makes perfect since tho. These things have a very thick plastic walls , tight fitting lids, and they come in many different sizes. So i have decided to give all of my readers a step by step instruction on how to clean them and most importantly of all, idea's on application of use.
Step one is simple and should be a no brainer: Remove the front sticker. For obvious reasons(i.e. should you lose one of them) you don't want someone finding it with all of your information on it. Simply pick at one corner until you have a made a large enough flap to peal the rest off.
Step Two: Wash out the bottles!!! This is important also, because if you intend use them with anything you put in your mouth you don't want to find out the hard way that you have an allergy to a particular type of medication.Grab a large enough pot to fit all the bottles and lids in, fill it with hot water, add soap, and insert everything that needs cleaning. Let them sit until the water becomes cold.
I like to stand the bottles up on end after you have filled them with the soapy water.
Step Three: Rinse the bottles. I recommend doing this only after the water has become could to the touch. Empty the pot into your sink and follow that by rinsing the pot with hot water until the soap is gone. Next individually rinse out each bottle with lid and stand them upside down in the pot so that excess water can drain from them.
Step Five: Let it air dry. This part of the process shouldn't take very long if you have hand dried the bottle and lids good.
Step Six: Fill with what ever you see fit.
These bottles can handle just about anything you throw their way. For the most part (haven't had one leak on me yet) they are waterproof, they are durable, and they can fit easily in a Bug out Bag. So next time your thinking about throwing that so called "trash" away. Stop and think for a moment about what kinda uses you mite still be able to get out of the stuff. After all, isn't being resourceful apart of survival, and acquiring new things for survival, is what prepping is???
A Good way to keep your matches and tender dry.
Coffee inside of filters can be helpful. Not to messy either.
These are just a few products that can be contained in on of these bottles.
Tackle can also be stored well.
Yes, you can even keep your butt wipe dry with these.
